Jasri Beach, a place where positive energy surrounds me. I took a motorbike trip from Bingin Bali to North East Coast to Jasri, a place i visited long ago and where I kept the best memories. This beach is a hidden, and offers natural beauty and great cultural experiences.
This serene stretch of coastline is often less crowded than some of Bali's more famous beaches, making it an ideal spot as I am seeking for tranquillity and relaxation. The beach is unique on it's way, the sand is volcanic black and with many rocks, which contrasts beautifully with the turquoise ocean.
Settled in my cozy bamboo cabin, just a short walk from the beach, I cherished the morning ambiance this location provided. The humidity and the sunrise directly in front of me were a stunning spectacle, symbolizing the start of a new day filled with enjoyment. Gentle waves broke on the shore. Enjoying each day and night the soft melody of waves cascading over the rocks.
The beach is known for its consistent waves that attract surfers of all skill levels. The locals offer lessons for beginners, while more experienced surfers can take advantage of the challenging breaks. Jasri beach is a cool spot for snorkelling and diving, with nearby coral reefs and vibrant marine life. Exploring these underwater ecosystems can be a mesmerizing experience, I was lucky to swim with turtles and many small and colourful fishes. :)
Jasri Beach provides ample opportunities for sunbathing. The calm atmosphere is perfect for lounging on the sand with a good book or simply soaking up the sun. As the sun begins to set, the beach transforms into a stunning canvas of colours, making it an ideal spot for photography. As you can see here on my photographs, the early sun rising in the mist over the ocean is a sight not to be missed.
I fully engaged with the local culture of this area in Bali. An elderly man named Made, who lives in a rice field and greets everyone with a wide smile, invited me and another guest to his home, a simple hut made of bamboo, to enjoy grilled fish that he had caught in the morning. He also cooked boiled rice to satisfy our hunger. Demonstrating impressive skill, he climbed coconut trees to provide us with fresh coconut water. I had never enough drinking from the coconut each day to start the day. so much grattitude!
The nearby village offers a glimpse into the traditional Balinese way of life, where I could witness local ceremonies and rituals. Engaging with the friendly locals can provide insight into their customs and traditions, enriching my overall travel experience.
After a long day driving around this part of the Island, i decided to offer myself a treat and looked up on google to find a healing massage center. I had the opportunity to join the therapist who has given me a wonderful massage and was able to assist them in their workshop, which focused specifically on Balinese arts and crafts. This included arranging coconut tree leaves into decorative items for ceremonies and creating offerings for the gods in nearby temples.
Gastronomy and night events are another highlight of a visit to Jasri Beach. Several beachfront warungs (small local restaurants) serve delicious Balinese cuisine, allowing my friend and I to savour authentic dishes made from fresh, local ingredients. From nasi goreng to flavourful satay skewers, the culinary offerings are sure to delight any food lover and costs as less then 3 euros per serving!
I also recommend visiting Chic Warung, which is the actual name of the place, where they serve western cuisine. I had the best four-cheese pizza and a dry margarita cocktail there.
I highly suggest stopping by to enjoy the coastline view and the infinity pool.
The Chocolate factories also are a good stop to gift yourself with fresh cacao and delicious milkshakes. Jasri Beach is not just a destination for sun, calm, and surf; it is a place where visitors can immerse themselves in the natural beauty and the rich culture of Bali. Jasri Beach and its surrounding activities have offered me a diverse range of experiences that I have enjoyed experiencing.
To fullfill my days, I looked on nearby activities and was able to find magnificent temples, including the Tirta Gangga. The atmosphere in this area both charming and mystical.
Adjacent to the serpent or dragon stone entrance, which leads to a spacious area with carved statues and a magnificent tree, this location was enchanting for grounding and for my meditation practice.
Tirta Gangga Temple, is a renowned Holy water palace originally built in the 1940s by the late King of Karangasem, Anak Agung Anglurah Ketut Karangasem.
The temple was constructed as a royal retreat and a place for the king's family to enjoy the serene beauty of the surrounding landscape.
The name 'Tirta Gangga' translates to 'water from the Ganges,' symbolizing the sacredness of water in Balinese Hindu culture, which is believed to purify the soul and body.
The temple complex includes a collection of hand crafted pools, fountains, and gardens, all linked to the Balinese philosophy of harmony between nature and spirituality.
The primary allure of Tirta Gangga lies in its water features, embellished with statues and stone carvings that portray various deities and mythological figures from Hindu tradition... These artistic elements not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of the temple but also serve to educate visitors about the rich tapestry of Balinese mythology and religious beliefs.
Throughout its history, a local guide told me that Tirta Gangga has undergone several renovations and restorations, particularly after the significant damage it sustained during the volcanic eruption of Mount Agung in the late 1960s. Despite these challenges, the temple has remained a vital part of the local community and continues to attract pilgrims and tourists, who like me, come to admire its beauty and partake in its spiritual offerings.
Strolling through the gardens, I enjoyed the peaceful ambiance, and even participate in traditional purification rituals that are held at the water springs. The temple stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of Balinese architecture, spirituality, and the harmonious relationship between humans and nature, making it a must-visit location for anyone exploring the enchanting island of Bali.
